PHP Board Member Discusses Food Security

World-renowned agricultural expert, Dr. Linus Opara, a PHP board member recently appeared at the European Parliament. The discussion related to direct action in which PHP is involved. Some of his comments:
“. . . developments in innovative postharvest technologies such as in cold chain management and packaging offer tremendous business opportunities to reduce the high incidence of food losses and waste which are currently unacceptably high in both developing and developed countries.”
“. . . the role of the public sector and public-private partnerships are particularly essential in order to harness the power of postharvest technologies to create novel value propositions which contribute towards improving the lives of people through employment and access to good quality and nutritious food.”
Opara’s topic at the four-day event held March 4 – 8, 2013, was: “Food Security and Safety: A Systems Approach”Learn More
